Background
The product detail pages (PDPs) initially didn't show much about an item – a photo, description, and a link to a website. People needed better ways to consider a product and brands needed a better way to showcase their items. People needed better signals, better information, better media, and we needed to differentiate why someone should shop and buy on Instagram over other options.
We evolved the Product Details from a photo and description to a robust surface for learning more and building trust.
We made sure that we were pulling in what makes shopping on Instagram unique – posts and stories from real people.
We gave people more ways to keep browsing – from the same shop, from similar shops, and from personalized collections.
